Madison's Bio

Madison Mikel Weiss began drawing cartoons and illustrations at the early age of four, plastering her bedroom walls with imaginative characters and social commentary. In high school her doodles covered desks, and notebooks, and every scrap of paper she came in contact with. At Santa Monica College she took up sculpting stone and graphics, and gained experience freelancing pen and ink illustrations for different community organizations and businesses.MadisonDuring the following years, she harnessed her creativity and utilized it as an outlet for healing her inner soul.

Madison Mikel Weiss' extensive portfolio includes both moody and stark ink pen, and lyrical acrylic works. She paints in vivid colors, creating characters from her imagination and brings those characters to life, making them as familiar to us as our family and friends. Madison's work is rich in its intensity. Humor and satire abound with a touch of darkness that makes it often bitter sweet. Her work is both dynamic and whimsical and has often been described by viewers as reminiscent of Picasso. While also referred to as "pop" or "folk art" like that of Peter Maxx, Madison's work is itself unique. Madison expresses her soul's evolutionary process, splattering and pushing paint across canvas-- soothing, and moving those who glance at her playful imagery.

Madison received her bachelor's degree in 1994 in clinical psychology from Antioch University. She originates from Chicago, Ill. and now resides in San Diego with her
life partner.
